Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Finance/Accounts Assistant to join our Admin team. The successful candidate will have excellent organisational skills, with experience working in accounts and ideally laboratory-based environments. Knowledge of university finance systems would be advantageous, enabling you to provide cover for the team during holidays or other absences.

This role involves liaising with members of the Institute at all levels, occasionally external agencies, and sponsors. It is essential that you possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Duties:
  • Acting as first point of contact for finance enquiries.
  • Raising and processing invoices and expense claims.
  • Reconciling credit card statements.
  • Running and reviewing UFS reports and issuing information to grant holders.
  • Acting as a point of contact for financial matters within the Institute.
  • Maintaining, filing, and archiving financial records and databases.
  • Credit controlling month end procedures.
  • Providing cover for Stores and purchasing team.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must be educated to GCSE level or have equivalent practical experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, is also essential. A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in your work, combined with effective communication skills, is required.
