Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Consultant to become a vital part of our esteemed Stroke Services team. Our multidisciplinary team is dedicated to providing exceptional care and is looking for an individual with strong mentoring capabilities and a genuine enthusiasm for stroke care to enhance our service delivery.

Located within a reputable healthcare facility, you will collaborate with a diverse team to provide comprehensive hyper-acute, acute, and rehabilitation services to the local population. The Stroke Services team comprises a robust nursing and therapy workforce, including clinical nurse specialists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, psychologists, dietitians, and speech and language therapists. We pride ourselves on fostering a supportive work environment and are committed to the continuous professional development of our staff.

Key Responsibilities

Applicants should possess a wide-ranging background in stroke medicine. Full GMC registration, MRCP, and the capability to operate at a Consultant level in Stroke Medicine are essential. For those interested in pursuing leadership opportunities, we offer support and the possibility of dedicating time for a Clinical Lead or Clinical Director role. Additionally, there are numerous avenues for research and the pursuit of special interests.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • MRCP/FRCP or equivalent qualifications
  • Training aligned with the attainment of CCT or nearing completion
  • Registration on the GMC Specialist Register for General Medicine/Geriatrics

Desirable:

  • Active participation in Continuing Medical Education (CME)
  • Evidence of research involvement
  • Fellowship in Stroke Medicine

Skills & Attributes

Essential:

  • Ability to function at a consultant level in Stroke Medicine, including Thrombolysis
  • Experience in multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Proven organizational skills and the ability to manage stress effectively
  • Commitment to quality improvement and research activities

  • Prior experience in a similar role

Teaching & Management

Essential:

  • Experience in supervising junior medical staff
  • Ability to teach clinical skills and supervise postgraduate research
