Dietetic Assistant Practitioner

Job Summary
This is a part-time role working with dietitians at Chesterfield Royal Hospital to support adults requiring nutrition and dietetic input who have had a stroke.
Main Duties of the Job
Under the supervision of a dietitian, the successful candidate will assess and advise adults who have had a stroke and will be supported to meet the required competencies within the first 6 months of being in post.
About Us
As a member of our team, you will work closely with dietitians to provide a client-centered nutrition and dietetic service for adults who have had a stroke. You will be responsible for obtaining and reviewing information from various sources, including anthropometric data, biochemical results, and nutritional intake.
Key Responsibilities
- To provide a client-centered nutrition and dietetic service for adults who have had a stroke.
- To obtain and review information from various sources, including anthropometric data, biochemical results, and nutritional intake.
- To advise, monitor, and support adults according to agreed protocols, reporting progress to supervising dietitians.
- To communicate complex nutritional information to adults, carers, and staff where there may be barriers to communication and understanding.
- To organize dietetic assessments, treatments, and support for adults who have had a stroke, including delivery of samples of oral nutritional supplements, arranging appointments or visits, and liaison with other agencies.
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training
- Higher Apprenticeship Level 5 / Foundation Degree / Diploma (QCF 3 / Level 4 NVQ) or the equivalent in a related subject.
Experience
- Experience of working in a healthcare support worker role.
- Experience of working with individuals who are malnourished.
Skills and Knowledge
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work as part of a team and on own initiative.
- Good prioritization skills.
- Understanding of Information Governance, Data Protection, HCPC Standards, and Safeguarding Children.
