Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Support Mentor to join our team at Guiseley School. As an Academic Support Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special educational needs, working collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with special educational needs, developing and implementing personalized learning plans to meet their unique needs.
  • Work closely with teachers and other staff members to ensure that students receive the support they need to access the curriculum and achieve their academic goals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to promote student engagement, motivation, and self-esteem.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, such as counselors and therapists, to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with special educational needs.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with students with special educational needs, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Strong knowledge of teaching and learning strategies, including differentiated instruction and assessment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the classroom and school community.
