Main Responsibilities

As a Residential Deputy Manager at North Lakes Children's Services, you will be responsible for ensuring that the Statement of Purpose is in place and reflects the needs of the young people being cared for. This includes outlining the qualifications, experience, and expertise of the staff employed within the home.

  • Develop effective communication strategies and systems to ensure a full flow of information within the team.
  • Manage and develop quality direct services to young people, ensuring that policies and procedures are implemented.
  • Identify and meet staff training and development needs, and assist in training staff as required.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, and regularly inspect the condition of the building to ensure it is safe and well-maintained.
  • Manage finance budgets, control, administration, and records in accordance with company procedures and expectations.
  • Promote and implement the company's Equality and Diversity policies, and ensure staff understand and implement Child Protection Procedures.
  • Set, monitor, and evaluate standards at individual, team, and service quality levels.
  • Establish and manage team communication systems, ensuring effective communication of company procedures, policies, strategies, and objectives.
  • Ensure professional practice is carried out to the highest standards, and developed in line with company objectives.
  • Provide vision and leadership to staff, ensuring effective systems are in place for workload allocation and management.
  • Manage a designated budget, ensuring value for money and early identification of financial irregularities.
  • Supervise and appraise staff, and ensure they follow company procedures in respect of supervision and appraisal.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An understanding of the issues facing young people in care.
  • A Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, or NVQ Level in Health & Social Care.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • A willingness to learn and develop.
  • Ability to work well as part of a small team.
  • Willingness to undertake a DBS check at enhanced level.
  • Experience in Emotional Behavioural Disorder, Social/Residential Work, or Youth Work would be advantageous.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence and ability to cover other Residential Homes as needed.
