Job Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled consultant to join our team as a Locum Consultant in Rehabilitation Psychiatry. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a meaningful contribution to the care and support of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking clinical assessments, providing advice on complex cases, and supporting the rehabilitation of patients from the North Norfolk locality. As a member of our multidisciplinary team, you will participate in service planning activities and contribute to the development of academic programmes within the trust.

This role requires a deep understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different disciplines. If you have excellent clinical skills, a passion for teaching and training, and a commitment to lifelong learning, we encourage you to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake clinical assessments of referrals within the North Norfolk CLDT where there appears to be a complex mental disorder or complex challenging behaviour.
  • Provide advice within the CLDT about the management of highly complex mental disorder and complex challenging behaviour in people with intellectual disability.
  • Support CPA and S117 review processes through outpatient clinics and domiciliary visits.
  • Support the rehabilitation of patients from the North Norfolk locality by maintaining regular liaison with the treating service and undertaking care reviews.
  • Act as Responsible Clinician for patients with intellectual disability living within West Norfolk, subject to conditional discharge or Supervised Community Treatment.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary, multi-agency, and partnership working for the most highly complex cases.

Person Specification:

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
  • Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research, or management.
  • Section 12/Approved clinician approval.

Salary: £105,504 - £139,882 per annum pro rata
