About the Role

We are currently seeking caring, compassionate individuals to support our patients and service users within our Inpatient Mental Health Services. As a Bank Health Care Support Worker, you will be part of a comprehensive range of mental health services.

Successful applicants will receive good rates of pay, work within a highly supportive environment, and be able to work a variety of shifts, predominantly early and late shift patterns. Our flexible working requests will consider all roles.

The ideal candidate will have NVQ 3 or equivalent level of experience within a care setting and experience of working with service users with mental health problems.

You will assist with the continuity of care for service users on their journey through the acute service, implementing individual and group activities under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.

Main Duties
  1. Implement individual and group activities under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.
  2. Assist with the continuity of care for service users on their journey through the acute service.
  3. Demonstrate an attitude which respects and values service users' choice and works alongside them and their carers to ensure they are at the centre of care planning.
  4. Carry out assigned tasks involving direct/indirect service user care and support service users under the supervision of a qualified practitioner.

Requirements
  • NVQ 3 or equivalent level of experience within a care setting.
  • Experience of working with service users with mental health problems.
  • Knowledge of Recovery model.
  • An understanding of the organisation of nursing care.
  • Basic awareness of the Mental Health Act.
  • Safeguarding children/vulnerable adults guidelines.
  • Overview and knowledge of acute mental health related issues.
  • Ability to develop effective interpersonal relationships with colleagues in the health care setting.
  • Venepuncture training.
  • First Aid.
  • CPR training.

A competitive salary of £24,071 - £25,674 per year (pro rata), plus opportunities for career development and professional growth.
