Job Purpose

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety professional to join our dynamic quality team. As a Senior Health & Safety Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring operational safety for the development, production, and testing of our self-limiting insect technologies.

You will provide health and safety guidance to all teams, strengthen our positive health and safety culture, and work closely with departments to prepare risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and standard operating procedures. Your expertise will be essential in identifying potential hazards, determining fit-for-purpose solutions, and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide health and safety guidance to all teams, promoting a positive health and safety culture.
  • Work with teams to prepare risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify potential hazards and develop effective solutions to reduce risks.
  • Provide health and safety training and ensure up-to-date training records for all team members.
  • Ensure that health and safety critical equipment is maintained and serviced on time.
  • Perform internal health and safety audits and investigate accident and near-miss reports.
  • Run health and safety meetings and maintain accurate records.
  • Stay up-to-date with current health and safety legislation and ensure compliance.
Requirements
  • A BSc in Biological Sciences or a related field.
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment is essential.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH training is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and develop relationships.
  • Diligent and organized, with a strong attention to detail.
  • A creative approach to problem-solving and the development of applied solutions.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
