We're seeking highly skilled Operational Meteorologists to help us deliver life-changing, often life-saving, and always life-enhancing meteorological services.

As a key member of our team, you'll interpret real-time weather information and deliver expert advice to support decision-makers across the UK Met Office network.

This is a unique opportunity to work with a variety of customers, from military bases to commercial partners, providing tailored services that meet their needs.

With opportunities to work in different locations, including our Services Operations Centres and with our Overseas and Deployed teams, you'll have the chance to develop your skills and expertise in a dynamic and challenging environment.

As an Operational Meteorologist, you'll be responsible for:

  • Providing accurate and timely forecasting services to customers
  • Analyzing and enhancing forecast guidance to deliver services and advice to customers
  • Delivering high-quality services to customers, including briefings, and continually improving these products and services through customer engagement

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Evidence of being an Expert by Nature through operational forecasting experience delivering meteorological services to customers
  • Show you Live and Breathe It with a proven track record in communicating meteorological information to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrate being an Expert by Nature and Force for Good through excellent customer service focus and an appreciation of weather impacts on customers

You'll be Better Together, able to work as part of a team, contributing towards team goals and improving products, services, and performance standards.

We offer a competitive salary of up to £46,974 per annum, including a Civil Service pension and annual leave.
