Bid Solutions Strategist

About the Role
The Bid Solutions Architect will play a key role in delivering bidding excellence to secure commercial and public sector opportunities across various projects and services. Reporting to the Bid Excellence Director, this individual will lead the design and articulation of compelling, innovative, and effective solutions aligned to customers' requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Bid Leads and bid managers in developing high-quality, tailored, and integrated solutions for complex requirements in solution design.
- Demonstrate an understanding of relevant markets, customers, and opportunities to support customer-focused, tailored solutions and proposals.
- Prepare for, engage in, and contribute to critical bid and solution development workshops, including bid kick-offs, solutions workshops, storyboarding workshops, critical reviews, and bid reviews.
- Work closely with operational teams to draw on their experience and knowledge, and reach agreement on optimal solution design.
- Contribute to designing Target Operating Models that meet customer needs, Mitie business requirements, and align with the win strategy for each bid.
- Design and articulate overarching solution integration for complex deals offering efficiencies and innovation, interfacing with sales leads, bid leads, bid managers, bid writers, and SMEs contributing to the core solution build.
- Create and develop storyboards for relevant responses/sections of proposals, ensuring adherence throughout the writing process.
- Gather and extract information from key technical experts to develop responses aligning with agreed storyboards, writing plans, tone, and style.
- Work proactively with key stakeholders to develop compelling and persuasive written responses articulating Mitie's value proposition, benefits of the solution, differentiators, and discriminators.
- Understand and capture subtleties and nuances in solutions to present features, benefits, added value, and social value in a clear and compelling way, in line with customers' evaluation criteria.
- Review draft storyboards and written responses to provide constructive feedback to authors in line with the win strategy and storyboard requirements.
- Contribute to regular solution progress status meetings and update on individual actions as required.
- Describe the competitiveness of the solution, how it meets customer needs and requirements, and the winnability of the solution against Mitie's competitors.
- Liaise and collaborate with bid leads to ensure integrated solution support is presented in a timely manner as part of the overall bid process.
- Contribute to developing and producing client and internal presentations, as required.
- Contribute to the risk and issues register to ensure risks and issues are recorded with mitigations and impacts.
- Support an effective handover to the mobilisation and transition team explaining the solution thoroughly and allowing the account team to launch, run, and use the designed solution.
- Ensure clear record-keeping of all bid documentation, including client documents, working and final submission documents, and governance documents.
Requirements
- At least 5 years' proven experience in a bid-related role, working as part of a successful bid team.
- Strong technical knowledge of IFM and multi-activity contracts and corresponding mobilisation processes.
- Capable of working without supervision as an individual contributor to a high-performing matrix bid team.
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills.
- A strong understanding of bid writing best practices, bid processes, and methodologies.
- Demonstrable experience working with senior individuals, subject matter experts, and other key stakeholders to gather information required to craft high-quality, compelling proposals.
- Ability to challenge senior stakeholders to drive the design of client-focused solutions that meet client requirements.
- Strong written English language skills.

- Proficient MS Office skills.

- Strong management and resilience with the ability to adapt styles to the audience and outcomes.
- Certified to APMP Foundation level or above.
- Experience of bidding to both public and commercial sectors.
- Experience of bidding in at least one of the following: Facilities Management, Security, Care & Custody, Defence, and Technical Services.
