Job Title: Anglican Chaplain

At Serco, we are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Anglican Chaplain to join our team. As a key member of our chaplaincy team, you will provide spiritual support and guidance to prisoners, staff, and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to prisoners, staff, and their families.
  • Facilitate and deliver worship, meditation, and religious programs.
  • Contribute to the development of local policy, procedures, and practice.
  • Provide mentoring and personal support for other chaplains and volunteers.
  • Plan and lead worship, meditation, and prayer services.
  • Provide crisis intervention and support as needed.
  • Collaborate with other faith leaders and chaplains to promote interfaith understanding and cooperation.
Requirements:
  • Must be a Reader (as set out in Canon E4 of The Canons of the Church of England or direct equivalent in other Anglican provinces).
  • Be a Religious sister or brother, Church Army Evangelist or other appropriately qualified or licensed minister in the Anglican tradition, subject to agreement from the Anglican Bishop to HM Prisons.
  • Have formal endorsement in the form of the licence of the Diocesan Bishop.
  • Have demonstrable knowledge of Anglican theology and religious practice.
  • Have formal endorsement from the HMPPS Anglican Faith Adviser confirming eligibility and suitability.
  • Have Diocesan DBS clearance and up to date safeguarding training.
  • Have a formal recognised qualification in theology or religious study.
  • Have relevant practical experience in delivery of worship, meditation, group work, and pastoral care.
