Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Anglican Chaplain to join our team at HMP Thameside. The successful candidate will provide spiritual support to prisoners and staff, and contribute to the development of local policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide pastoral care and spiritual welfare to prisoners and staff
- Facilitate and deliver opportunities for worship, meditation, and religious programmes
- Contribute to the development of local policy and procedures
- Provide mentoring and personal support to other chaplains and volunteers
- Plan and lead worship, meditation, and prayer meetings
- Provide support and guidance to prisoners and staff in crisis situations
- Facilitate services provided by contractors and volunteers
- Acquire and distribute religious literature and materials
- Participate in Faith Awareness Training for staff
- Take responsibility for own spiritual health and development
Requirements
- At least 3 years' experience as an Anglican Chaplain in a custodial environment
- Proven experience in delivering worship, meditation, and pastoral care
- Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively in a multi-faith chaplaincy
- Ability to meet the faith/belief eligibility requirements for the Anglican faith
- Reader or equivalent qualification in the Anglican tradition
- Formal endorsement from the HMPPS Anglican Faith Adviser
- Diocesan DBS clearance and up to date safeguarding training
