Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Neonatal Staff Nurse to join our Special Care Baby Unit in Barnstaple. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to special care, high dependency, and intensive care neonates without direct supervision.

About the Role

The post holder will be a role model, promoting high standards of care and providing clinical leadership to the nursing and wider multidisciplinary team. They will also demonstrate continuing professional development that reflects individual needs, the needs of the team, and the needs of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective care to special care, high dependency, and intensive care neonates without direct supervision.
  • Deputise in the absence of the Ward manager.
  • Be responsible for the ward and support junior members of the team as well as student nurses.
  • Take part in regular performance appraisal.
  • Require resilience to deliver specialist nursing care in at times, stressful and emotionally demanding environments.
