**Job Title:** SEMH Teaching Assistant

**Job Description:**

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team at an Alternative Provision in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students with complex learning difficulties, providing tailored interventions and strategies to promote positive behavior and academic success.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide individualized support and interventions to students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom
  • Implement strategies to support positive behavior management and de-escalate challenging situations
  • Liaise with the SENCO and other school leaders to follow Education Health Care Plan objectives
  • Assist students with SEMH needs in accessing the curriculum and completing academic tasks
  • Work closely with classroom teachers, SENCO, and other relevant staff to coordinate support and interventions for students

**Requirements:**

  • Must hold the Right to Work in the UK
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs in a school or similar setting for at least 6 months
  • Understanding of SEMH-related challenges and appropriate strategies for intervention and support
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
