About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Service Manager in Cancer MDT. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality cancer services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Service Manager in the operational management of the Cancer MDT service, including providing leadership and expert guidance to the MDT team.
  • Work closely with services to deliver improvements to cancer care, ensuring effective communication links with all service providers and commissioners.
  • Ensure effective measurement and monitoring to achieve the required cancer data collection, targets, and outcomes through the development and use of consistent definitions, data collection systems, and audit systems.
  • Participate in the effective development of the Cancer Services Multidisciplinary team to ensure they play a central role in achieving the NHS Cancer plan in respect of treatment, clinical outcomes, and quality.
  • Line manage the Cancer Service MDT Coordinator Team, comprising MDT Coordinators, MDT Trackers, and MDT Assistants.
  • Ensure the development and implementation of policies and procedures for the MDT office, including the coordination of departmental annual leave and cover.
Requirements
  • Experience of collecting, analysing, and presenting complex data to inform service improvements.
  • High-quality written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent level of computer literacy, including word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills.
  • Experience of report writing and presentation of data.
  • NHS or other healthcare leadership training, or working towards a certificate.
  • Supervisory or line management experience.
