About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Court of Protection team as Head of Department. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for driving the success of our Court of Protection and Private Client department.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop the Court of Protection team to deliver exceptional client service and meet business objectives.
  • Manage client cases and ensure compliance with relevant external supervision requirements.
  • Provide inspirational leadership to the team, including recruitment, motivation, training, and supporting team members.
  • Implement and monitor departmental plans to deliver business priorities and projects.
  • Support the budgeting process for the Court of Protection and Private Client department.
  • Lead the department's operational needs, working with the cost and finances team to manage key reporting metrics.
  • Coach and develop managers to achieve excellent people leadership practice.
  • Run a reduced load of circa. 25% of a full capacity numbers, varying in value and technicality.
  • Liaise with clients, experts, barristers, third-party solicitors, insurers, and other experts as necessary.
  • Deal with all aspects of the lifecycle of trust and deputyship matters.
  • Ensure all actions are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Accurate time recording.
  • Maintain client files in good order, in accordance with Lexcel and other quality assurance requirements.
Requirements
  • Required skills and experience to be appointed as a Director of the Trust Corporation and be a qualified Solicitor.
  • Experience of successfully leading a Court of Protection team.
  • Experience of running a wide variety of Deputyship and Trust matters.
  • Ability to deliver excellent client service.
  • Good understanding of how to deliver and grow team productivity.
  • Experience of coaching and supporting other lawyers and managers.
  • Forming and maintaining positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to role model good practice leadership.
  • Technology literate, with the ability to use technology to enhance legal services.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to form positive working relationships with a wide variety of team members.
  • Strong analytical skills.
