Job Title: Deputy Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Deputy Manager to join our team at Headway Adolescent Children's Services. As a Deputy Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our residential children's home, providing a safe and supportive environment for young people in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead a team of Team Leaders and Residential Support Workers to provide high-quality childcare and support to young people.
  • Work closely with the Children's Home Manager to ensure the home runs efficiently and effectively, and that young people achieve positive outcomes.
  • Ensure the needs of young people are met, and provide a positive and safe living experience.
  • Manage staff rotas, including on-call shifts, and ensure that the home is staffed appropriately at all times.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection.
  • Attend training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
  • Good overall standard of education.
  • Working towards or hold a Level Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or equivalent.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of child care legislation, children's home regulations, and quality standards.
  • Hold a QCF Level qualification or be willing to work towards one.
  • Commitment to commence relevant level Diploma within 6 months of appointment and successful completion of probation period, if not already qualified to this level.
  • A minimum of 2 years' previous experience of working directly with young people with challenging behaviour.
  • Experience of working with outside agencies, other professionals, parents, and families.
  • Excellent report writing and numeracy skills.
  • Well-organized with excellent administration and IT skills.
  • Able to relate to young people with empathy and committed to a high standard of childcare and to achieve the best outcomes for young people in their care.
  • Strong motivational, management, and leadership potential. Able to supervise, support, and develop Team Leaders & Residential Support Workers to create a cohesive team.
