Autism Specialist Teaching Assistants

Location: North Yorkshire

Salary: £83 - £100 per day

GSL Education are seeking qualified Autism Specialist Teaching Assistants to work at a Special Educational Needs School in North Yorkshire.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the classroom teacher in planning and implementing lessons for students with autism
  • Provide individualized support to students with autism based on their specific needs and abilities
  • Help students develop their communication and social skills
  • Collaborate with the teacher and other professionals to develop behavior management plans
  • Collect data on student progress and behaviors

Requirements:

  • Recent experience supporting children or adults with Autism
  • Knowledge of associated needs and behaviors linked to Autism
  • Training in de-escalation, Team Teach, MAPA or NAPPI
  • Calm, nurturing, and patient persona
  • Experience using PECs and Makaton to communicate with children or adults with speech, language, and communication needs
  • Flexible education practitioner who can adapt quickly to situations
