About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientific Officer to join our team at NHS Blood and Transplant. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will play a vital role in supporting the processing and cryopreservation of life-saving stem cell products for bone marrow transplantation, as well as the development and manufacture of novel cell therapies for patients.

Main Responsibilities
  • Perform a range of technical and scientific activities related to the processing of blood or stem cell donations, with the support of the team.
  • Handle blood or tissue samples and operate a range of equipment, including manual handling of equipment weighing up to 13 kgs.
  • Support and train new and less experienced staff, providing guidance and expertise to ensure the highest quality of work.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of new processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals and objectives, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
