Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Clinical Perfusionist to join our team at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a specialist clinical perfusion service to patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery.

Main Job Duties

  1. Providing cardiopulmonary bypass capability and mechanical cardiac support during surgery.
  2. Assessing patients' medical history, pathology, and diagnosis to inform procedure conduct.
  3. Setting up, priming, and running cardiopulmonary bypass machines according to established policies and guidelines.
  4. Analyzing and interpreting arterial/venous blood gases and patient coagulation status.
  5. Monitoring complex clinical information and taking autonomous action when necessary.

  1. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  2. Proven evidence of continual professional development.

Compensation and Benefits

£95,000 - £115,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits including pension scheme and annual leave.
