Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team at Protocol Education. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Nurture and Support: Build strong, positive relationships with pupils, offering tailored support to help them succeed both academically and personally.
  • Assist in Learning: Help children with Autism, Asperger's, ADHD, and other SEN needs by supporting them in their lessons and ensuring they understand the subjects.
  • Hands-On Approach: Demonstrate practical strategies to help engage and motivate pupils, providing emotional and behavioural support as needed.
  • Lunch Support: Be there to assist children during lunch times, ensuring they feel included, supported, and happy throughout the school day.
  • Be a Role Model: Apply rules consistently, show fairness, and use excellent de-escalation skills to create a calm and positive learning environment.
Requirements
  • Experience or Interest in SEN: You may already have experience working with children with autism, ADHD, speech or language difficulties, or cerebral palsy. If not, an interest in this field is just as valuable.
  • Resilience and Adaptability: You'll need to be flexible, adaptable, and able to handle changes in the daily routine with ease.
  • Communication and Teamwork: Strong communication skills are essential-you'll be liaising with teachers, parents, and other support staff to ensure the best outcomes for the children.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Ideally, you'll have some understanding of the EYFS and/or KS1 curriculum and knowledge of strategies to engage pupils with complex needs.
