Empowering Learning is seeking an experienced Learning Support Assistant to join a small class supporting children with severe learning disabilities in Harlow.

The ideal candidate will work with children aged 3-19, each with statements of Special Education Needs. Most have limited communication skills or are non-verbal. You will assist multiple classes and several children across the school.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing substantial support for pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), who may use symbols or signing such as Makaton for communication.
  • Assisting pupils with PMLD (Profound Multiple Learning Difficulties) and personal care needs.
Traits and Qualities:
  • Encouraging peer learning and participative approaches as a Teaching Assistant.
Requirements:
  • A good command of numeracy and literacy, essential when supporting pupils with limited communication skills.
  • Available to start immediately and commit to full school hours, 5 days per week.
Desirable Experience:
  • 1 year experience in SLD settings.
  • 1 year experience as a Teaching Assistant.
  • 1 year experience in SEND settings.
  • PECS and Makaton experience desirable.

**Estimated Salary:** £22,500 - £25,000 per annum based on location and job title.
