Job Description

Job Summary

St Johns Medical Centre is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Receptionist to join our team. As a key member of our front desk team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support to our patients and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system to ensure efficient scheduling and minimize wait times.
  • Process face-to-face, telephone, and e-requests for appointments using SystmOne, AskmyGP, and Accurx.
  • Answer incoming phone calls, transfer calls, or handle caller requests in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Signpost patients to internal and external services as needed.
  • Initiate contact and respond to requests from patients, team members, and external agencies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Input and code data into SystmOne and patient records accurately and efficiently.
  • Photocopy documentation as required and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
  • Data entry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as needed.
  • Direct requests for information, such as SAR, insurance/solicitors letters, DVLA forms, and childhood immunizations, to the administrative team.
  • Manage all queries in an efficient and professional manner.
  • Carry out system searches as requested and maintain a clean and tidy working area.
  • Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards to ensure a welcoming and informative environment.
  • Support all staff with general tasks as requested and open and lock the practice on a daily basis.
  • Process prescriptions requests accurately and efficiently, ensuring they are processed in a timely manner.
  • Manage and secure blank prescriptions, ensuring the register is up-to-date and prescriptions are kept safe at all times.
  • Manage and secure blood pressure monitors, ensuring the register is up-to-date.
  • Deal with patient complaints in a professional and empathetic manner, following the practice complaint procedure as needed.
  • Act as a chaperone during situations as requested by clinical or management staff.
  • Record significant events on Team Net as required.

Requirements

  • Experience working with the general public and administrative duties.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Desirable: experience working in General Practice and using clinical software, including SystmOne and AskmyGP.
  • GCSE level or equivalent education.
  • GCSE Mathematics and English (C or above) desirable.
