The Splunk Observability Consultant is a key role that requires a strong understanding of implementing observability solutions to drive business success. This includes developing a deep knowledge of organisational modifications required to ensure the successful adoption of the solution. The consultant will compile required capabilities, business and technical requirements, and desired outcomes into an architecture and programme definition across appropriate solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Shape customer expectations and align outcomes with customer requirements.
  2. Participate in all aspects of the initiative, from initial strategy discussions to delivery, requirements gathering, design, and implementation.
  3. Partner with client Project Managers and Splunk Project Managers to validate project scope, schedule, resource plan, and estimates.
  4. Configure the Splunk Observability product suite to meet customer requirements.
  5. Facilitate workshops and other sessions to capture business and technical requirements, current and desired states, and deliver a best-practice based global architecture and implementation.
  6. Define global architecture to meet desired state vision, including business, application, data, technical, integration, and security architectures.
  7. Provide technical leadership and contribute to key decision making related to new solutions and products, cross-product integrations, and product upgrades.
  8. Ensure successful delivery of desired outcomes by engaging in risk management and mitigation, and operational programme governance.
  9. Build and leverage relationships within client organisations and Splunk to ensure success.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in CS or relevant technical field experience plus 3-5 years of related Observability experience.
  • Experience leading project implementation teams and being responsible for delivery at large enterprise clients.
  • Self-starter with initiative and leadership across projects and within the team.
  • Consistently delivers high-quality results, including on-time quality deliverables and meeting project timelines.
  • Identifies and exploits future opportunities to drive additional value.
  • Projects complete successfully (meets requirements and vision).
  • Successfully manages stakeholder expectations through solid communication and documentation.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at all levels within an organisation, technical to senior management.
  • Continuously enhances solution knowledge and skills to further industry leadership position.
  • Ability to process and advocate client requirements and product gaps into the development (R&D) organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience deploying observability solutions and associated infrastructure, within both on-premise and cloud environments in large complex global enterprise environments.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Familiarity with Splunk and/or other cloud monitoring tools, including APM, Infrastructure, Logs, Synthetics, and RUM.
  • Observability Platforms: Splunk, Datadog, HoneyComb, New Relic, Dynatrace.
  • Public Cloud: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Cloud Foundry.
  • Development/Scripting Languages: Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl, PHP, Go.
  • Configuration Management: Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef.
  • CI/CD Tools: Jenkins, GitLab.
