Advanced Research Engineer

The Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Research Engineer to join their Laser Processing Team in Coventry. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for delivering technical projects and supporting the development of new technologies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical delivery of large-scale projects, ensuring they meet customer requirements, budgets, and timescales.
  • Conduct innovative research and development work, focusing on technology readiness levels 3+ and demonstrating industrial project delivery.
  • Contribute to the identification, specification, and delivery of new technologies into the MTC, customers, or industrial members' premises.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project delivery, including concept generation, detailed design, and technical support.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in laser programming, surface analysis techniques, and report writing.
  • Work autonomously, with a high degree of self-motivation and a commitment to meeting deadlines, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Maintain customer confidentiality and adhere to associated processes and policies.
Requirements:
  • Strong knowledge of the UK manufacturing sector and experience working with customers.
  • Good understanding of life cycle analysis and willingness to learn.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to write high-quality reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and network effectively within the team and with external partners.
