Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Join our team as a Maintenance Technician and play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and continuous operation of our manufacturing equipment and site utilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all engineering and maintenance activities meet current EHS legislation and Group EHS policies.
  • Support contractors and visitors with effective RAMS, permits, and supervision of maintenance activities.
  • Support the procurement, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of key automated manufacturing and site plant equipment.
  • Implement, document, and report routine preventative maintenance schedules for plant and machinery.
  • Support reactive breakdown situations and liaise with manufacturers to ensure adequate service and plant maintenance provisions.
  • Continuously seek to improve existing processes to enhance safety, material utilisation, production outputs, and waste minimisation.
  • Represent Operations and EHS activities as required to deputise for the Site Operations Manager.
  • Perform any other duties within the employee's skills and abilities as reasonably instructed.
Organisational Structure:

Our client's Hydrogen Technologies is a customer-focused, global business dedicated to supplying high-performance fuel cell catalysts and components.

  • The business is headquartered in Swindon and is a leader in its chosen markets with rapidly growing sales supported by extensive R&D and manufacturing capabilities.
  • The Hydrogen Technologies business employs approximately 190 permanent employees and 100 agency workers, primarily at Swindon and the Technology Centre in Sonning Common, with sales representatives in the UK, USA, Korea, China, and Japan.
  • This role is within the engineering support team for a Manufacturing site producing and developing new-to-world technology, supporting a complex, fast-changing research, development, and rapidly growing manufacturing environment.
Special Factors:
  • The Maintenance Engineering team works 5 days a week, with occasional weekend support required.
  • Uniform and appropriate PPE will be provided and must be worn.
  • Training on specialist equipment or process will be provided.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience:
  • Ideal candidate: apprentice-trained with 4 years' experience in an automated, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Essential skills: experience of high-temperature ovens, roll handling, and hydraulic presses; multi-skilled engineer with solid understanding of Mechanical and Electrical engineering.
  • Desirable skills: experience of motors, servo drives, variable frequency drives, and AC/DC motors; proven knowledge of process automation equipment, including PLC systems; qualified to C&G or HNC (Level 4) in electrical/mechanical engineering discipline.
