Job Description

This is a challenging opportunity to lead a team of experienced social workers in the London Borough of Croydon. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of managing high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement in practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and care plan children in need, including those at risk of harm or in need of protection.
  2. Direct work with children and families to achieve desired outcomes.
  3. Promote permanence for looked-after children through assessment and care/permanence planning.
  4. Manage the day-to-day operational duties of a Family Assessment Team.
  5. Ensure service delivery aligns with council policies, government legislation, and department procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership skills, a strong understanding of systemic ideas, and the ability to empower service users while managing risk.

Requirements:

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Knowledge of national policy and developments in children's social care.
  • Able to lead improvement in social work practice at an operational level.
  • Evidence of effective change management.
  • Experience in managing childcare social workers with demonstrated results.

About the Role:

We offer a highly competitive compensation package, including a salary range of £58,692 - £60,819, 29-31 days annual leave, and opportunities for professional development.
