About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nursing Assistant to join our team at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. As a Nursing Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and supporting our multidisciplinary team.

Job Summary

Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending on qualifications. Band 2 requirements include a willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role. Band 3 requirements include:

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9)
  • Care certificate
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties
Main Duties

To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team, demonstrating a range of nursing skills to meet the needs of patients in a safe, caring environment that promotes dignity, privacy, and respect. Work with nursing assistants, clerical support, and support the training of student nurses and volunteers. Demonstrate the Trust Values and Behaviours and the Trust Code of Conduct and the nursing and midwifery 6C's at all times, acting in the best interests of patients and treating everyone with dignity and respect.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Band 3:
    • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
    • Care certificate
    • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties
  • Band 2:
    • Must complete the care certificate within the 6 months probationary period and 'on the job training'; instruction will be provided

Knowledge:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
  • Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records and other Trust systems
  • Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient/service user interactions and observations and metrics
