Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dynamic school in Gateshead. As a key member of the education team, you will play a vital role in supporting teachers in planning and delivering lessons, leading small group activities, and providing one-to-one support for pupils who need extra help.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support teachers in planning and delivering lessons, ensuring a high-quality learning experience for students.
  • Lead small group activities and interventions, promoting engagement and understanding among pupils.
  • Provide one-to-one support for pupils who require additional help, tailoring your approach to meet their individual needs.
  • Supervise whole classes during the teacher's absence, maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Assist with the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with teachers and other staff members to create personalized learning pathways.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting social and emotional well-being among students.
  • Help with classroom management and behaviour support, ensuring a smooth and productive learning experience for all.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or similar role, with a strong understanding of education principles and practices.
  • A recognized HLTA qualification or equivalent, demonstrating your commitment to professional development and excellence in education.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and other staff members.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable, but not essential.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced education environment.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a passion for education, with a commitment to making a real difference in the lives of students.
