Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) Role

GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a dynamic school in Gateshead. As a key member of the education team, you will play a vital role in supporting students' success and growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with teachers to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Lead small group activities and interventions to cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Provide one-to-one support for students requiring extra help, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Supervise whole classes during the teacher's absence, ensuring continuity and consistency.
  • Contribute to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), working closely with teachers and other staff members.
  • Participate in creating a positive learning environment by working collaboratively with other staff members.
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour support, promoting a safe and respectful learning space.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) or similar role.
  • A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with students and staff.
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs (SEN) is desirable.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a genuine passion for education.
  • Up-to-date CV and enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willingness to apply).
