About the Opportunity
NES Fircroft is collaborating with a prominent engineering firm seeking a Structural & Civil Engineer for a significant PAYE Contract role.

Position Overview
The selected candidate will oversee the design and coordination of Structural & Civil Engineering for Blast Furnace Plant projects. This role involves executing and coordinating engineering tasks with both local and international design firms alongside in-house teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Engineering Director, ensuring that all design documentation—drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, and manuals—are technically compliant and cost-effective, meeting project specifications and industry standards.
  • Act as the technical lead for Civil & Structural components across various projects, ensuring successful contract execution through diligent budget monitoring, progress tracking, and change management.
  • Adhere to company procedures and regulatory requirements, actively participating in Design & Safety Reviews and Risk Assessments.
  • Ensure that structures are manufactured, tested, and installed per design and operational specifications, advising clients on construction methodologies and best practices in alignment with local and international standards.
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with Clients, Suppliers, and Subcontractors to facilitate successful project execution and future business opportunities.

Qualifications and Skills
  • In-depth understanding of heavy industry turnkey project requirements.
  • Proficient in structural design, capable of producing innovative and robust designs suitable for challenging environments.
  • Strong design calculation skills, with experience in tools such as 'MathCAD' or Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with environmental, health & safety, and technical regulations.
  • Ability to establish and coordinate large work packages with both local and international design centers, ensuring design concepts are thoroughly checked.
  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.
  • A formal qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industry engineering projects.
  • Experience in project engineering and the project lifecycle from contract award to installation and commissioning.
  • Experience in the iron & steel industry is advantageous.

Additional Information
This role may require international travel.
