NES Fircroft collaborates with a prominent engineering firm seeking a skilled Structural & Civil Engineer for a 6-month PAYE Contract engagement.

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will oversee the design and coordination of Structural & Civil Engineering for Blast Furnace Plant projects. This role involves executing and coordinating engineering tasks with both local and international design firms, alongside in-house resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Engineering Director, ensuring the production and verification of technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules, calculations, and manuals that align with project requirements and company standards.
  • Act as the technical lead for Civil & Structural elements across all projects, ensuring successful and commercially viable contract execution while monitoring budgets, progress, and managing changes.
  • Adhere to company procedures and legal obligations, participating in Design & Safety Reviews and Risk Assessments as necessary.
  • Ensure that structures are manufactured, tested, and installed according to design and operational specifications, advising clients on construction methodologies and best practices in compliance with local and international standards.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with Clients, Suppliers, and Subcontractors to guarantee successful project execution and future business opportunities.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of heavy industry turnkey project requirements.
  • Proficient in structural design, capable of working independently or collaboratively to create innovative and robust designs suitable for challenging environments.
  • Experience with design calculations, preferably using 'MathCAD' or Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health & safety, and technical regulations.
  • Ability to establish and coordinate large work packages with local and international design centers, ensuring design concepts are thoroughly checked.
  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor.
  • A formal qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industry engineering projects.
  • Experience in project engineering throughout the project lifecycle, from contract award to installation and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with the iron and steel industry is advantageous.

International travel may be required.
