About the Opportunity
NES Fircroft is collaborating with a prominent engineering firm seeking a skilled Structural & Civil Engineer for a significant contract role.

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will oversee the design and coordination of Structural & Civil Engineering for Blast Furnace Plant projects. This role involves executing and managing engineering tasks in partnership with both local and international design teams, alongside internal resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Report directly to the Engineering Director, ensuring the production of technically sound and cost-efficient design documentation, including drawings, specifications, schedules, and calculations that adhere to project specifications and industry standards.
  • Act as the technical lead for Civil & Structural elements across all projects, ensuring effective contract execution while monitoring budgets, progress, and changes.
  • Adhere to company protocols and regulatory requirements, participating in Design & Safety Reviews and Risk Assessments as necessary.
  • Ensure that all structures are constructed, tested, and installed in compliance with design and operational specifications, providing guidance on construction methodologies and best practices.
  • Foster and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to guarantee successful project delivery and future opportunities.

Required Qualifications
  • In-depth understanding of heavy industry turnkey projects.
  • Proficient in structural design, capable of producing innovative and durable designs suitable for challenging environments.
  • Experience with design calculations, preferably using 'MathCAD' or Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of environmental, health & safety, and technical regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate extensive work packages with design centers globally and validate design concepts.
  • Advanced skills in 3D CAD software, ideally Autodesk Inventor.
  • A formal qualification in Structural or Civil Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy industry engineering.
  • Experience in project engineering throughout the project lifecycle, from contract award to installation and commissioning.
  • Background in the iron & steel industry is advantageous.
