Civil and Structural Engineer Job Description

NES Fircroft Ltd is working with an engineering design house in Thornaby who are looking for Civil and Structural Engineers. This is a long-term contract opportunity working from their office in Thornaby. This role is available Outside IR35.

Main Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or check design calculations to ensure high professional standards.
  • Supervise the production of and check drawings/specifications for compliance with calculations.
  • Prepare Technical Specifications/Reports/Scopes of Work to meet project requirements.
  • Prepare Technical Analysis of proposals provided by equipment manufacturers and contractors.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other Engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Interpret Vendor drawings/information to inform design decisions.
  • Work to design budgets and programmes to meet project deadlines.
  • Comply with Company Quality Management Systems to ensure quality delivery.
  • Report to Lead Civil Engineer on project progress and any issues.
Essential Qualifications
  • University degree minimum in a relevant field.
  • Additional equivalent Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status preferred.
Essential Experience
  • Background in Heavy Engineering/Chemical/Petrochemical Industries preferred in relation to reinforced concrete foundations, sub-structures, aqueous retaining structures, and general infrastructure works.
Essential Skills/Knowledge
  • English Language – written, spoken, and technical.
  • Specification/report writing (preferred but not essential).
  • Awareness of and compliance with Company's Quality Management System procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to design/work to Eurocodes British Standards and Codes of Practice.
Essential Software Knowledge
  • IT literate.
  • Experience using Tekla.
  • Design/analysis software usage (preferably ROBOT & TEDDS but not essential).
