Job Title: Civil and Structural Engineer

NES Fircroft is partnering with a leading engineering design house in Thornaby to recruit a Civil and Structural Engineer for a long-term contract opportunity.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil and Structural Engineer to join our client's design team. The successful candidate will be responsible for producing technical documentation to high professional standards, working on challenging programmes and budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and/or check design calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Supervise the production of and check drawings/specifications for compliance with calculations.
  • Prepare technical specifications, reports, and scopes of work to meet project requirements.
  • Conduct technical analysis of proposals provided by equipment manufacturers and contractors.
  • Coordinate and liaise with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Interpret vendor drawings and information to ensure accurate design implementation.
  • Work within design budgets and programmes to meet project deadlines.
  • Comply with the company's quality management systems to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Report to the Lead Civil Engineer and contribute to the overall success of the project.
Requirements
  • University degree in Civil and Structural Engineering or a related field.
  • Additional equivalent Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status is preferred.
  • Background in heavy engineering, chemical, or petrochemical industries, with experience in reinforced concrete foundations, sub-structures, aqueous retaining structures, and general infrastructure works.
Desirable Skills
  • English language proficiency, both written and spoken.
  • Specification and report writing skills.
  • Awareness of and compliance with the company's quality management system procedures and requirements.
  • Ability to design and work to Eurocodes, British Standards, and Codes of Practice.
  • IT literacy and experience with design and analysis software, such as Tekla and ROBOT & TEDDS.
