Patient Access Team Leader

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated individual to lead our Patient Access Team. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of junior administrative staff, supervising their workload, and allocating tasks to optimize service provision.
The successful candidate will join a large team and be responsible for providing a high-quality administrative support service to the department. You will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in a busy office environment, dealing with complex and sensitive issues, and making appropriate judgments under minimal supervision.
About the Role
The Patient Access Team is responsible for providing a welcoming and customer-focused service for patients. The team delivers this service through a contact centre, giving patients a choice in the date of their outpatient appointment and providing a reminder/reschedule service.
The administration staff work a variable shift pattern Monday-Friday from 8am to 6pm. The department does not include any clinical staff, and the Patient Access Team is a team of admin staff providing bookings, cancellations, and appointment rescheduling for an array of centralized services trust-wide.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of administrators to provide a high-quality administrative support service to the department.
- Supervise the workload of junior administrative staff and allocate tasks to optimize service provision.
- Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in a busy office environment, dealing with complex and sensitive issues.
- Make appropriate judgments under minimal supervision.
Person Specification
Essential
- Extensive business administration experience demonstrating an understanding of key functions to providing an admin support service.
- Experience working in a customer service setting.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as using own initiative.
- Proficient in use of IT systems and applications, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Able to demonstrate excellent written English, including grammar, punctuation, and structuring written text.
- Ability to work methodically in a busy environment and meet deadlines.
