We are a friendly and busy 6-partner GP Practice committed to the care and wellbeing of our patients. We are seeking a confident and enthusiastic Telephonist/Receptionist to join our team.
Job Summary
This is a temporary position with the possibility of becoming permanent, working up to 35 hours per week, 5 days a week, with morning and afternoon shifts. The role involves dealing with booking appointments, patient queries, and front desk duties.
Main Responsibilities
- Deal with general enquiries, explain procedures, and make new and follow-up appointments.
- Use your judgment and communication skills to ensure patients with urgent consultations are seen in a logical and non-disruptive manner.
- Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary cover.
- Receive and make telephone calls, divert calls, and take messages via Day Book.
- Enter requests for home visits into the visit book and refer to Duty Doctor when necessary.
- Give out results to patients after the Doctor has actioned.
- Handle post, advise patients of relevant charges, and issue receipts.
- Enter patient information onto the computer and retrieve and re-file records as required.
- Ensure reception and waiting areas are kept tidy.
Person Specification
- A basic standard of education to secondary school level.
- Knowledge of confidentiality and its application.
- Desirable: A minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, involvement in activities which involve teamwork and social interaction with people.
- Essential: Experience of working in General Practice or a Health Care Environment.
