Job Title: Duty Resource Manager

South Western Railway (SWR) is a leading rail operator in the UK, providing over 1,500 services daily across its network. We employ over 5,000 people and are part of FirstGroup, the largest rail operator in the UK and second-largest bus operator outside London.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Duty Resource Manager to lead all aspects of day-to-day resource management for our train crew. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of a safe, punctual train service within budgetary guidelines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively manage train crew resources to minimize train service delays
  • Coordinate drivers, guards, and commercial guards on a day-to-day basis to ensure efficient use of resources
  • Manage the display of safety-critical information
  • Contribute to the continued improvement in SWR's train performance through proactive resourcing arrangements
  • Establish a leadership style that promotes SWR's vision and values, with a strong focus on professional business delivery
  • Responsible for certification and authorization of traincrew overtime
  • Use IT software packages to improve dissemination of information and productivity
Requirements
  • Leadership qualities and general management, interpersonal skills, clear thinking, judgment, and organization ability
  • Educated to a good academic standard, with a professional certificate in management desirable
  • Experience in the railway industry is not essential but could be an advantage
