Cell Culture and Assay Development Specialist

Alethiomics Ltd is a leading biotech company located at Oxford University's Old Road Campus, providing a vibrant environment for biomedical research. Our company was founded in 2021 by Prof. Adam Mead and Prof Bethan Psaila, two renowned experts in haematology. With the support of Oxford Science Enterprises plc, we are committed to discovering and developing innovative treatments for patients with blood cancer. We are now seeking a skilled Research Technician in Oncology to join our team and contribute to our mission.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, supporting core experimental activities in a lab-based role. As a key member of our team, you will have the chance to shape and grow the company by applying your scientific and technical expertise. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and optimising new assays, analysing data, and contributing to the routine running of the laboratory. They will also participate in scientific discussions by presenting data and suggesting improvements to workflows. Additionally, they will analyse data from internal and external data sources to support writing of reports and manuscripts.
We estimate the salary for this role to be around £30,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. The selected candidate will be engaged on a 12-month fixed term contract, with potential for the role to be made permanent after this time. The full-time employee will work 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Requirements for the role include a BSc / MSc / PhD in Oncology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology or a related discipline, along with 2+ years' experience in a research laboratory, preferably in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology setting. The ideal candidate should also have experience in cell-based assays for testing pharmacology of molecules (small or biological) and molecular biology techniques, such as DNA/RNA extraction, cloning, PCR, qPCR.
