Job Opportunity: MCA/DoLS Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as the MCA/DoLS Lead. This is a full-time position, although job share applicants are welcome.

The successful candidate will provide expert advice, information, and support to Social Workers, other LA staff, and occasionally, staff from other public sector organizations within the district on the Mental Capacity Act and its impact on practice. They will also liaise with care homes to advise on the appropriateness of DoLS referrals and submission of DoLS forms.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Triage and categorize DoLS referrals
  • Quality assure the work of BIAs and DoLS approved Doctors
  • Provide support to staff around mental health or MHA issues
  • Assist with managing the AMHP rota
  • Design and deliver or co-deliver training, particularly to care homes but also to LA staff

Being a qualified and practicing BIA is essential. Being an AMHP is desirable.
