About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Underwriting Assistant to join our Middle Office Operations team at AXA XL. As an Underwriting Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting the Underwriting business by ensuring operational tasks are managed efficiently and administrative processes are run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist Underwriters in recording risk details on source systems and building broker relationships.
  • Liaise with underwriters to ensure correct interpretation of data for accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain underwriting documentation/files and keep all documentation in order.
  • Liaise with the Credit Control team to answer queries, track and monitor premium using core underwriting systems.
  • Work with underwriting support functions to respond to regular control and exception reports, including data entry and ensure adherence to common standards across the business.
  • Develop requirements for statistical and insightful reports for the Underwriting function.
  • Monitor renewal lists and coordinate as required.
  • Support delegated underwriting renewal process alongside underwriters, pricing, claims and governance.
  • Work closely with shared services to ensure accurate and timely service to our Underwriters and Clients.
Requirements
  • Minimum A-level standard of education or equivalent business experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel with the ability to use VLookups/Pivots/formulae on a daily basis without guidance.
  • Computer literate – experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams would be advantageous.
  • System data entry experience and processes would be beneficial.
  • Rational approach to complex data.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Accurate and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent proactive organization skills and ability to plan and prioritize work, using their own initiative and keeping one step ahead.
