Babcock International Group is seeking a highly skilled Principal EC&I Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for delivering electrical and electronic aspects of marine system design, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.

The Role:

As a Principal EC&I Engineer, you will have the opportunity to lead intricate electrical and electronic projects, working closely with a dynamic and engaging team. You will be responsible for:

  • Developing electrical and electronic engineering design solutions for various platforms across the engineering lifecycle.
  • Providing electrical and electronic design support, including preparing and checking design documentation, reviews, estimates, and schedules.
  • Supervising, planning, and controlling work to time, cost, and quality.
  • Producing and approving calculations, analyses, drawings, models, design basis documentation, and technical reports.

This is a full-time role, working 36 hours per week, with hybrid working arrangements, including 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home. The role can be based at our Bristol, Devonport, or Rosyth sites.

Essential Experience:

  • You will have a high level of developed knowledge and experience in electrical and electronic design, with a proven track record of leading projects and supporting less experienced team members.
  • Experience working on UK naval marine shipbuilding projects or defence-related design experience is beneficial, but not essential. Electrical and electronics experience in other industries, such as facilities, oil and gas, and aviation, will be considered.
  • Experience of operating in a defence or high-safety integrity environment is essential.
  • Proven experience of relevant industry standards and all phases of the engineering lifecycle and configuration control systems.

Qualifications:

  • Qualified to degree level or HNC/HND equivalent, coupled with significant experience in the relevant engineering discipline.
  • Ideal candidates will be members of a relevant institution and hold or be working towards Chartered or Incorporated status, or have significant demonstrable engineering experience and be capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.

Security Clearance:

The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
