Parking Permit Officer Job Description

The role involves being responsible for correctly processing applications for parking permits submitted by post and via the web. You will provide sound specialist advice on any aspect of the Council's parking permit schemes to Members, senior managers, customers, and colleagues.

You will also be responsible for providing members of the public with accurate information and advice in relation to the Council's parking permit schemes and general advice in relation to any other parking or highway/transportation issues. This includes dealing with irate and/or distressed customers by telephone.

The job entails undertaking all aspects of permit administration, assessing and processing permit applications, and taking decisions on their validity, exercising discretion where necessary, and advising applicants of the outcome in writing or over the phone. Additionally, you will be responsible for accurately receipting payments, dealing with payment enquiries, reconciling and balancing at the end of the day, and ensuring all financial procedures relating to permit issue and payments are adhered to.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide expert advice on parking permit schemes to various stakeholders.
  • To handle customer inquiries and resolve issues related to parking permits and transportation.
  • To manage permit administration tasks, including application assessment and decision-making.
  • To maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with financial procedures.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, be capable of achieving agreed deadlines and targets, and stay motivated and focused. They should also be able to plan, programme, deliver, and monitor projects and programmes of work in line with agreed timescales and outputs.
