Peer Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Peer Support Worker to join our Crisis Recovery Service team. As a Peer Support Worker, you will work alongside our experienced team to provide practical and emotional support to clients who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
Your role will involve working with clients to help them achieve their personal goals, providing responsive support in a face-to-face, virtual, and telephone-based setting, and signposting them to community resources and partner organizations to promote social inclusion.
You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a good working knowledge of community resources and partner organizations to support clients in achieving their goals. You will also be expected to live the values of Peer Support as described in the PSW Competency Framework 2020.
About YouTo be successful in this role, you will have experience or knowledge of community mental health services, whether through lived experience or work. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate a proactive and positive attitude when working with people who have difficulties with their mental health.
You will be able to demonstrate careful listening and a non-judgmental attitude when working with clients to understand their needs and aspirations. You will also be able to support people's self-management and place the person at the heart of their own support, working alongside them to achieve their goals.
What We OfferWe offer a comprehensive, in-person training program in your first week of employment, which will give you the tools you need to succeed in the role. You will also receive a minimum of 25 days annual leave per annum, plus statutory holidays, rising with length of service, and a 5% contributory pension scheme.
