About the Role

The Associate Director - Planning will play a key leadership role in our Planning team, taking charge of planning projects and coordinating and overseeing projects. This individual will be an ambassador for Lanpro, undertaking business development through building upon existing client relationships and actively seeking opportunities for future business. They will also take a leadership role in developing the team's core competencies, assisting the Regional Director in the day-to-day management of the team, and undertaking direct line management responsibilities as directed by the Regional Director.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead planning projects and coordinate and oversee projects
  • Undertake business development through building upon existing client relationships and actively seeking opportunities for future business
  • Develop the team's core competencies
  • Assist the Regional Director in the day-to-day management of the team
  • Undertake direct line management responsibilities
Requirements
  • RTPI accredited degree or Masters in a related discipline
  • Chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute
  • Significant experience working in the planning industry, ideally including some experience in the private sector and experience of directly managing staff or leading a team
Desirable Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent communication skills and influencing abilities
  • Strong client management and resolution skills, including the ability to present at senior levels and across a range of stakeholders
  • Expert negotiation and commercial skills, coupled with strong commercial knowledge
  • Excellent project management skills, coupled with timeliness and accuracy
  • Strong report writing skills and ability to review colleagues' work, providing constructive feedback
  • A strong awareness of local politics and the interface between planning and politics
  • Exemplary knowledge and expertise of planning practice legislation across England and Wales
  • A natural ability to explain and discuss planning issues for a varied audience
