Children's Diabetes Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Children's Diabetes Specialist Nurse to join our multidisciplinary team. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in supporting children and their families in managing diabetes.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high-quality clinical care to children with diabetes, aiming for excellent clinical outcomes.
- Develop and implement personalized education programs tailored to each child's developmental stage.
- Promote emotional and physical well-being, recognizing the impact of wider needs on self-management.
- Collaborate with the Lead nurse specialist and paediatric diabetes team to provide a specialist, family-centred service, offering advice, education, and support to hospital and community staff, children, and families.
- Work closely with the children's diabetes team, including consultant paediatricians, children's dietitians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Ensure a smooth transition from paediatric to adult care by collaborating with adult diabetes care teams.

Person Specification- Essential qualifications: RSCN/RN Child, Diploma in healthcare-related subject.
- Desirable qualifications: Graduate or undertaking degree-level study in children's diabetes modules, community nursing qualification.
- Essential experience: Minimum 3 years post-registration nursing experience, experience of caring for children with diabetes.
- Desirable experience: Children's community nursing experience, experience with children with diabetes, ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of understanding.
