About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Children's Epilepsy Nurse Specialist to join our multidisciplinary team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our community nursing team, you will play a vital role in providing expert care and support to children and young people with epilepsy and complex needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans for children and young people with epilepsy, working closely with families and other healthcare professionals.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on epilepsy care and management, including medication and treatment options.
  • Conduct nurse-led clinics and provide responsive support to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals through telephone consultations and home visits.
  • Collaborate with the wider community nursing team to support children with complex medical conditions.
  • Develop and deliver training for healthcare professionals and families on epilepsy care and management.

Person Specification

We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Children's Epilepsy Nurse Specialist who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

  • RSCN/RN(child) or RGN with appropriate experience.
  • Experience of working with children and young people with epilepsy and complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Current driving licence and access to a vehicle.
