Children's Mental Health Specialist Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children Looked After Specialist Nurse to join our team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing specialist care and support to children and young people who are looked after by the local authority.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have significant experience in working with children and young people who have complex mental health needs. You will be responsible for undertaking statutory health assessments, attending safeguarding meetings, and providing specialist advice and consultation to carers and multi-agency partners.
Key Responsibilities- Work collaboratively with the Named Nurse for Children Looked After and other multi-agency partners to improve the recognition, assessment, coordination, access, and delivery of healthcare for children looked after.
- Undertake statutory health assessments for children looked after, with a specific focus on those with known additional mental and emotional health needs.
- Provide specialist advice and consultation on the care and treatment of care leavers to carers and the wider partner agencies.
- Work collaboratively with the Named Nurse CLA, other members of the Children Looked After Health Service, and CAMHS to contribute to and develop programmes, pathways, policies, and processes that support this cohort of children to make healthy lifestyle choices and optimize their health.
