Job Title: Residential Support Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team at Barnardo's. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Build trust and develop nurturing relationships with service users, promoting their independence, wellbeing, strengths, and capabilities.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for service users.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of the home, including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
  • Document information accurately and ensure records are kept up to date, adhering to safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Promote, monitor, and maintain a safe environment at all times, ensuring the well-being and safety of service users.
Requirements:
  • Hold a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or be willing to achieve this within the required timeframe.
  • Be motivated by the opportunity to make a positive difference in young people's lives, creating a safe space and building resilience.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding and protection of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Be flexible to commit to sleep-ins and shift work, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Relevant experience working with children and young people is desirable, but not essential with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
