Marine Radio Operator

About the Role:

Transocean is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radio Operator to join our team. As a Radio Operator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our offshore marine operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain radio communication equipment to facilitate communication between the rig, shore bases, supply vessels, helicopters, and other stations.
  • Receive and transmit messages, including emergency communications, and maintain accurate records of all radio communications.
  • Ensure the maintenance of electronic navigational aids and test standby radio equipment, SARTS, and EPIRBS as required.
  • Coordinate and control radio equipment during periods of radio silence and assist with the embarkation and disembarkation of passengers.
  • Provide leadership and motivation to marine crews, apply continuous improvement processes, and participate in training to ensure personnel are competent to perform their allocated jobs.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with relevant craft certificate or trade school education preferred.
  • Successful military discharge or relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Valid medical examination and vaccination certificates.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with strong communication and leadership skills.
  • Knowledge of radio communication equipment and procedures, with experience in offshore marine operations preferred.
